WeCanRow-Philly is a rowing program developed specifically for breast cancer survivors. This program helps them regain control over their bodies at a time when they may be feeling vulnerable, encourages them to be active, and connects them with other women who have undergone similar experience through a healthy and exhilarating sport.
WeCanRow-Philly was organized in 2018. The goals are to help women who have been treated for breast cancer to:
- Develop strength and endurance.
- Become active participants in their own recovery.
- Regain control over their bodies.
- Rediscover the joy of movement.
- Contribute to a mutually empowering recovery team.
Located at Hines Rowing Center with the enthusiastic support of Lois Trench-Hines, this program partners with Whitemarsh Boat Club.
WeCanRow-Philly meets once a week. No experience is necessary. All ages and levels of fitness are welcome. Rowing is a no impact, lifelong sport that can be enjoyed well into your 90s. Our coaches have experience working with breast cancer survivors and will teach you everything in a friendly and supportive environment. A doctor’s note is required stating that you are cleared for physical activity.
