Whitemarsh Boat Club has more than 100 individual adult members, known as “masters” in the rowing world. Our members represent a diverse mix of ages and skill levels. While many rowed high school or college and are returning to the sport as masters, others have only recently learned to row through one of our Learn-to-Row or Learn-to-Scull adult masters classes.

WBC owns a mix of sweep and sculling shells of all sizes (8+, 4+, 4x, 2x, 1x, and Novice Gigs). These boats are used at WBC practices and are available for use when Club Rows are not in session. In addition, many individual members pay an additional annual fee to store their private boat at the Hines Rowing Center. In addition to club boats, WBC members have access to rowing machines (ergometers) stored on the property.

WBC prides itself on providing a forum to meet the needs of all of its members. Many of our members do not race but participate regularly in Club Row practices for general exercise and as a great way to socialize and get fit on the beautiful upper Schuylkil River. Many others, however, compete regularly in regattas around the region in one of the WBC “team boats” or as independent rowers in smaller boats like singles and doubles. WBC’s Club Captain and Masters Head Coach coordinate the racing calendar and help members to make arrangements for getting there boat to regattas, registering for races, etc.
