Join us for the second year of the WBC Fall Technical Training Program!
This program offers middle and high school students (12-18 years of age) with some experience (learn to row, summer camp, and/or previous WBC program), who are not interested in rowing competitively a chance to get out on the river for 3 coached practices per week for the duration of the fall season. The ten week season kicks off on Tuesday, September 5th and wraps up on Thursday, November 9th. This program will have a very similar structure to our very popular Summer Technical Training & the level of coaching will be the same. While you won’t be attending regattas you will be improving with every practice & will also be working hard enough to maintain an aerobic base for the upcoming winter season.
For athletes who have NO previous rowing experience please look into our Fall Learn to Row classes. CLICK HERE for more information.
Rowers participating in this program will be expected to:
- Attend practices three days per week, with any absences excused in advance (and kept to a minimum). Practices will be Tuesday & Thursday, 4:00-6:00p (drop off no earlier than 3:45p, pick up by 6:15p) and Saturday, 8:45-11:30a (drop off no earlier than 8:30a, pick up by 10:45a).
- Be open to training in either sweep or sculling boats.
Practice in the fall is mandatory each day. If you have an unavoidable conflict (doctor’s appointment, school function, etc.) you should let your coach know well in advance. If you are NOT at school because of illness, you should probably NOT come to practice, but you SHOULD inform your coach of your absence.
Practice is RAIN OR SHINE at the Hines Rowing Center. Carpools are highly encouraged!
Head Technical Coach to be named soon, check back often for updates.
The fee for this program is $875 if paid by check* and $901 if paid by credit card/PayPal (this includes the yearly $5o HRC facilities fee– anyone who participated in a program in 2016 at the Hines Rowing Center will have already paid the Facilities Fee). Any athlete who has rowed out of HRC in 2017* has paid the $50 yearly fee & should pay $825 by check.
*Programs that have paid the 2017 HRC Fee include- Archbishop Carroll Crew, Germantown Academy Rowing, Radnor Girls Crew, Lower Merion Rowing, Mount St Joseph Rowing, Gordon Rowing Services, & all Whitemarsh Boat Club programs (including 2017 Learn to Row Camps).
